These are dedicated to all my homies who are at work today, like me. It’s balls but you gotta get that paper. In fact US Dollars are made from Cotton so I don’t really think it is paper. But, “gotta get that cotton” just sounds weird and no one would understand me. You know?

More Steeze please?

A the dit from Mutiny’s trip to Barcelona. Happy Happy days…..

Now back to work!

A few photos of some local track work that went on this weekend. Looks great! The world needs more trail builders.

I thought this kind of sucked actually. Whatevers.

Maybe I’m just in a bad mood because:

  1. I’m getting pounded at work
  2. I have a broken arm
  3. I can’t ride for another month
  4. I am 600km away from my bike which I cant ride anyway
  5. I’m getting pounded at work.

The general suckiness of my current situation has lead me to ponder what my ideal job/ daily routine would look like. I mean, if you don’t know what you want how are you going to get it. So here it is….. a routine I think I could live with:

5:50am – Wake up, kiss my sleeping girlfriend, jump in the car and:

  1. Head to dig/ ride at the trails with Al, Dave, Crash and anyone else who wants to get up early, or
  2. Head out on the mountain bike and ride some buff singletrack

7:30am – Get home, jump in the shower and eat some breakfast. Now, I don’t just mean grab a piece of toast and run out the door. I mean actually have time to make something to eat and a cup of tea and sit down, relax, and eat it with my lady before i head out the door.

8:10am – RIDE to work. Yes, RIDE to work. I am sick of the following (this post has a lot of lists in it doesn’t it):

  1. Driving across Sydney’s sprawl in a battle field of trafic to get to some suburb I wouldn’t even let my mother in law live in just so I can help someone do something they don’t care about because they are too dumb and/ or lazy (usually both) to do it themselves.
  2.  Riding a zombie filled bus for an hour breathing in a mixture of school kid arm-pit funk and cheap-admin-girl purfume all in 100 degree temperatures and paying a constantly increasing fee for the privilege.
  3. Riding the ferry is ok. But not a good as riding.

8:30am – Arive at work relaxed, fed and ready to get shit done. I’m not even really that fussy about the work I would do as long as it didn’t take the lions share of my waking hours like the one I have now. Hell, not even overtime bothers me as long as it’s not required on a daily (including weekends) basis. Modest remuneration for such a position would be all I require. Just enough to cover the costs of living, a beer or two on Friday and the odd bike part here and there.

5:45pm – Finish work for the day with the feeling I had achieved something (I wonder what that feeling would be like?). Say a friendly goodbye to my colleagues and jump back on the bike.

6:00pm – Assuming it’s daylight savings I’d grab my bike and my dog and head back down to the trails for an evening session with the boys as the sun sets. Have a debrief on everyone’s day, fire out a few lips, and head on home with Mac in toe.

MAC DOG RULZ!!
MAC DOG RULZ!!

7:15pm – Get home, kiss girlfriend, listen intently to stories about her day and make dinner together. Feed Mac and chill on the couch watching cop dramas and Summer of Fit in the add breaks.

Ahhhhh….. what a dream. Contrast this with my current routine:

6:45am – Get up, showered and out the door.

7:15 am – Jump in the car to work

8:00am – get breakfast substitute – coffee.

8:15am to 7pm – Work.

7:00pm to 8:00pm – drive home, eat dinner.

8pm to circa 1:00am – more work

"wow man, that's fucked up".
“wow man, that’s fucked up”.

I’m sure you can see why my modest dream day would be so appealing. Alas, for at least a few more weeks it is out of reach. But now that I have at least articulated what I want my days to look like, perhaps I am a little closer to changing them thus.

Rant; more or less over…. for now.
